New Product Lights the Night for Mom and Baby

No matter where your baby is sleeping, one of the challenges of night time nursing is how to get to the baby and get it positioned and latched on in the dark - or without waking the whole family by turning on lights.

Many moms also do their night time nursing in a location or position that's not conducive to safe or comfortable sleep, and worry about dozing off with the baby.

My daughter Ellie has been in the family bed from birth, but it was several months before we perfected the side-lying position, and before she could latch without seeing what she was doing.

So, we slept with way too many lights on, and I usually spent a few hours each night dozing while sitting up with her on the Boppy. (Not a very safe cosleeping arrangement!)

The Nighty-Night Nursing Light solves both of these problems. This small night light clips onto mom's pajamas, and not only provides a soft glow right where it's needed, but it even includes a vibrating alarm, to wake mom (but not baby!) and remind her to move back to a more safe or comfortable location when the baby is done nursing.

Boy, I sure could have used this products a couple of years ago!

When Ellie was two months old (and had only been nursing for about three weeks, which is a whole other story) we visited my family for Christmas. The only night light available for our bedroom was a motion-sensitive one, which was plugged in right beside the bed.

When she was nursing on my right side, I could wave my left arm to turn the light on, but when she nursed on the left, I had to flap my leg around off the side of the bed, until I activated it!

My partner found my acrobatics pretty entertaining, but Ellie and I would've been much happier if we'd had a Nighty-Night Nursing Light!

New bumGenius 4.0 Diapers in Stock

Mom and Baby Naturally just received a shipment of the new bumGenius 4.0 One-Size diapers with snap closures, in all of the solid colors - including the brights, which have been unavailable for a while, and three brand new colors - Bubble, Sweet and Noodle!

The new Artist Series prints and hook-and-loop closure diapers are available by special order. Please contact us if you're interested in those. (Minimum order may apply.)

How are the bumGenius 4.0 Diapers "New and Improved?"

  1. The bg4 now accommodates even larger babies!
  2. The bg4 has all new hook & loop closures (also available in refresher kits)
  3. The bg4 has accessible, easily replaceable elastic.  All elastic tack-points are now visible from the inside of the diaper.  To replace elastic, turn the diaper inside out, thread new elastic through the casing and stitch it down at each end.
  4. Three new colors have joined our family - Bubble, Noodle and Sweet.
  5. You now have your choice of bumGenius closures (snaps or hook & loop).
My Ellie is wearing two-year-old bumGenius 3.0s, which have been well-loved, and every time I see the nice, neat, stacks of shiny, new 4.0s in my store room, I have to remind myself that I've bought them for your babies, and not for her!

Of course, I did just fill a big order for a baby boy, so I am a little long on the "girly" colors, and she does wear a lot of purple, so maybe just one Bubble . . . .

We Still Got It!

While demonstrating some carriers last night, I grabbed my Wrapsody Bali Stretch and showed the customers how to tie it, and then put Ellie in just for old times sake.

We got this wrap when Ellie was about six weeks old, and weighed a little over six pounds. Here she is the first time I wore her in it. (Note - She's not in the safest position here. She should be more upright and less "folded up.")

She's now twenty-seven-and-a-half months old and probably about twenty-five pounds. How's that for versatile?!

She was just-up-from-a-nap sleepy at the time, so she lay her head on my shoulder and cuddled while I was talking with the customers.

I love the Connecta that we use these days, but it was so nice having her back in the wrap that we wore her in when she was brand new!
